Here is the publication of the Requiem by François Dompierre created last June and commented in detail in The Duty. The album is released by Labe, a contraction of Let Artists Be, a label unknown to classical music lovers. It so happens that two Quebec composers, Dompierre and Rufus Wainwright, both on the fringes of the “classical” universe, composed a parallel Requiem. The recording of the dazzling Dream Requiem by Wainwright, created in Paris, will be released on January 17, 2025. Before that, we will return with pleasure to this pleasant series of sound pictures, where the melodic vein seduces more than the depth of the message (which is the strength of Wainwright’s work). “The composer has made a sound film on human feelings in 12 atmospheric pictures,” we wrote. That is still what we remember. The recording having been made before the concert with the same soloists (Myriam Leblanc, Andrew Haji and Geoffroy Salvas) the experience of the creation did not induce any change.
