American singers Taylor Swift and Katy Perry win MTV Video Music Awards

Taylor Swift received the award for video of the year for her song Fortnightas well as the Fan Award, which she won for the third consecutive year at the MTV Video Music Awards held on the night of September 11-12.

The award-winning video was directed by the artist herself. “I always try to find a way to say thank you to my fans, for making my life what it is,” Taylor Swift commented on stage.

As she accepted the ceremony’s biggest award, Taylor Swift reiterated her calls for fans to vote in the US presidential election.“If you are over 18, register to vote for something else that is very important” said the 34-year-old singer.

Following Tuesday night’s debate between former President Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift, who has nearly 283 million subscribers, announced her support for the Democratic candidate.“She fights for the causes and rights I believe in.”the singer wrote in a message posted on Instagram.

At this ceremony, which took place this year in Elmont, New York, Katy Perry was awarded the Video Vanguard Award, a prize that recognizes artists who have had a significant impact on the music video industry.

Another highlight of the ceremony was its opening by Eminem with a reconstruction of his famous set, during the 2000 edition of the MTV Awards. The famous 51-year-old rapper, who announced the release of his new album on July 11, performed his title The Real Slim Shady accompanied by several dozen lookalikes.
