(Quebec) Quebec wants to curb abusive tips. The minister responsible for consumer protection, Simon Jolin-Barrette, tabled a bill Thursday to force merchants to calculate tips based on the price that excludes Quebec and Canadian sales taxes.
The bill also plans to increase the compensation offered to consumers when the price of a good recorded at the checkout is higher than the price announced for merchants using optical reader technology.
