Taylor Swift supports Kamala Harris

Minutes after the debate, Taylor Swift, who has 283 million Instagram followers, came out in support of Kamala Harris. “I will vote for Kamala Harris. She fights for the causes and rights that I believe in (…) I think she is a gifted and strong leader”she wrote. She signed “the childless cat lady”in reference to Donald Trump’s running mate, who had insulted Kamala Harris in the same terms.

In 2008, the musician supported a Democratic senator from Tennessee who ultimately did not win the race. In 2020, she is positioning herself for Joe Biden. A year later, for the midterm elections, she encouraged her fans to register to vote. Result: the site registered 35,000 new voters in a few hours. According to experts, Taylor Swift’s support will not be able to convince the undecided, but it could convince the youngest to go and vote.
