the sentence of 24 years’ imprisonment confirmed on appeal

The decision fell in the early evening on Wednesday January 12 at the Angoulême courthouse. Stéphanie D., accused of the murder of her companion Thierry B. in their apartment on rue Lamartine in Périgueux, saw his 24-year prison sentence confirmed on appeal by the Charente Assize Court. The facts date back to the night of Tuesday 11 to Wednesday 12 September 2018. That evening, Thierry B, a disabled 30-year-old man, was found with his throat slit by a broken foot of glass.

The Advocate General requested confirmation of the sentence

According to Stéphanie D., the victim was killed during a fight. For the Advocate General, this thesis did not hold water, the victim having lodged a complaint for violence on the part of his companion a few months before the murder. In addition Stéphanie D. had already been sentenced for violence against former companions.

At first instance, at the beginning of September, the Assize Court of Périgueux had declared the young woman guilty of aggravated murder, and sentenced her to 24 years of imprisonment. At the appeal trial, the Advocate General requested confirmation of the sentence pronounced at first instance. The jurors followed his requisitions.
