The 26-year-old suspect was arrested in the borough of LaSalle. He is expected to appear at the Montreal courthouse by Thursday. The investigation was conducted by the SPVM, the Sûreté du Québec, as well as the municipal police services of Ottawa and Toronto.

On August 8, 2020, an 18-year-old man was shot in the back. This event occurred following an altercation between two groups at the corner of Saint-Gabriel and de la Commune Est streets in Old Montreal. The suspect and members of his group then fled.

The victim was taken to hospital and underwent several surgeries in the following months. The young man “will retain permanent sequelae of this attempted murder”, indicates the SPVM.

Anyone with information related to this event can contact 911 or their neighborhood station.
