The Caquists and Education | Le Devoir

Certainly, political party rallies are often the subject of a certain ideological enthusiasm. However, it was surprising to hear the young caquistes call for more discipline in schools to control the fury of some parents and students.

On the other hand, they have made few — or no — interventions based on solid reflections on the state of the material and immaterial situation. Schools, regardless of the level, are suffering a more than notable deterioration, and our interpretation of the latest statements by the Minister of Higher Education is that we must do more with less when it comes to CEGEP investments.

Should we see, through the interventions of the young people of the Coalition avenir Québec, several symptoms of the results of education in Quebec, where critical, rigorous and objective analysis is more than lacking in the learning process? What about an approach where we would have found an upstream analysis of the consequences of the inefficiency of the Quebec education system? Several billion dollars have been generously offered to voters in recent years. Can we imagine what these sums could have generated if they had been invested in education according to a long-term vision?
