a first line for 5-11 year olds opened at the Pau vaccination center

Some are a little stressed, impatient, or not at all anxious, but all are getting an injection of the covid vaccine for the very first time: vaccination for children opened on Wednesday January 12 at the center of the Foire Expo de Pau, which welcomed around thirty patients for this first day of pediatric injections.

Two injections for children

A line of children, aged between 5 and 11, accompanied by their parents, has joined the lines of adult and adolescent patients, to which the center is now accustomed. For the little ones, the organization changes a bit. One “pediatric box”, decorated with images of well-known cartoons, was installed at the back of the vaccination hall.

The wait is longer because caregivers take the time to initiate a reassuring atmosphere for the little ones, with music, distribution of candies and diplomas of bravery once the vaccination is over. It must be said that children under 12 must submit to two bites : one in the arm for the anti-covid vaccine, and the other on the finger, to draw some blood and check that the virus has not already been contracted.

Parents for their part are relieved to finally be able to vaccinate their child. Many have struggled to find a free niche. Some come from far away for an injection, sometimes even from neighboring departments, such as Landes for example. The Pau vaccination center indicates that dozens of slots have been opened every day for the moment until Saturday, time to gauge the demand for vaccines for children.
