The football company Chamois Niortais was officially placed in receivership on Tuesday, September 10, France Bleu Poitou learned from the commercial court of Niort, in Deux-Sèvres. The news was expected, SA Chamois Niortais was placed in receivership because of its debt exceeding 3 million euros. “Recovery is clearly impossible”indicates the court which delivered its decision on Tuesday.

The club owes more precisely 3.3 million euros. With declared assets of 1.4 million euros, with no takeover plans, and with owners who left by triggering a bankruptcy procedure, the epilogue was not in doubt for the professional section of the Niort club.

Last August, the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG), the financial watchdog of French football, had already decided to deprive the Chamois Niortais club, because of its debt, of all French national competitions this season.

In its judgment, the court notes that “Recovery is clearly impossible” and therefore ends the activity, reports France Bleu Poitou. A receiver will be appointed to make an inventory of the receivables and try to clear part of the debt. But a good part of the suppliers risk not being paid. Bodybuilding equipment as well as the Bodard space will be put up for sale, probably at auction.

This judicial liquidation will be notified to the French Football Federation, whose Comex (executive committee) will meet next Thursday. It will have to decide in which division the first team of the Chamois Niortais, now directly attached to the association, will play. The club would like to return to R1, in the regional league, because forming a team at a lower level would be very difficult.
