(Toronto) Four categories will be removed from next year’s Juno Awards as part of a broader overhaul of the awards, which honour the artisans of Canada’s music industry.
In a letter obtained by The Canadian Press, the gala organizers informed the Academy’s board of directors last week of their intention to suspend the reggae album, children’s album, Christian/gospel album and international album of the year categories.
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences said the move was part of a “larger set of updates” that have not yet been announced.
Academy representatives declined to comment on the changes.
For several years, the awards for these four categories have been presented at the “industry gala,” off-air, the day before the broadcast of the main Juno Awards gala.
The 2025 Juno Awards are scheduled to take place in Vancouver on March 30.
