For the first time in twelve years, the Blues are approaching a match with two consecutive defeats in official matches (against Spain in the semi-final of the Euro and Italy in the first match of the League of Nations). In Décines (Rhône), Monday September 9, the French team will be keen to reverse this start to a bad run. For their second match of the international period, the French will face their Belgian neighbors, opponents they know very well. This is the 77th clash in history between the two nations, Belgium being the team that France has met the most.

A little over two months ago, Mike Maignan’s teammates beat the Red Devils in the round of 16 of the Euro (1-0). Since then, Belgium has won its first Nations League match against Israel (3-1), with an excellent Kevin De Bruyne, the best player in this selection. Under fire from critics, after several lackluster performances, Kylian Mbappé could pay the price for the turnover announced by Didier Deschamps. The Real Madrid striker and captain of the French team is on a run of four consecutive games without a goal for France, a first since 2021.
