Rapper Kendrick Lamar to host next Super Bowl halftime show in February 2025

For the halftime show of the next Super Bowl, it is the Californian rapper Kendrick Lamar, icon of committed rap, who has been entrusted with the task of hosting the famous musical show that punctuates this annual event that is very popular across the Atlantic, announced Sunday, September 8, the NFL (National Football League), Roc Nation and Apple Music who co-produce the show. The final of the American football championship is scheduled for February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

In February 2022, the Super Bowl halftime show, orchestrated by Dr. Dre, made history due to its 100% hip-hop nature. Kendrick Lamar was a guest, along with the first rap division consisting of Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Mary J Blige. This time, Kendrick Lamar will be the star and artistic director of the most watched show by Americans – it now exceeds 110 million viewers each year, with a record 123.4 million viewers ahead of Usher’s show in 2024.

Kendrick Lamar, whose latest album Mr Morale & the Big Steppers was released in 2022, has been engaged for months in a song-based tug-of-war with Canadian rapper Drake, notably through the hit Not Like Us.

At the Super Bowl, he will succeed Usher in 2024, Rihanna in 2023, Dr. Dre and his guests in 2022, The Weeknd in 2021, and Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in 2020.
