COVID-19: Quebec deplores an increase of 52 deaths; 2877 patients are hospitalized

The death toll continues to grow in Quebec with 2,877 patients hospitalized due to COVID-19, as well as 52 new deaths in the past 24 hours.

This is an increase of 135 hospitalizations compared to the previous day, while 263 Quebecers are in intensive care (+8). Since the start of the pandemic, 12,080 people have died of the disease.

Also, 8,351 more people, with access to screening centers, tested positive for the virus.

“Appointments for the 1st dose continue to increase. About [5000] appointments were made on January 10 and [7000] yesterday, our record for several days ”, indicated the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, on Twitter.

“Appointments were taken in all age groups. [107 000] doses given yesterday. It’s encouraging! ”He added.

Hospitalizations also continue to increase in Ontario (3348, +228) as does the number of people in intensive care (505, +28). “83% were admitted to intensive care for COVID-19 and 17% were admitted for other reasons, but tested positive for COVID-19,” Ontario Minister Christine Elliot said on Twitter.

A total of 46 more people have lost their lives in the past 24 hours, up from 21 the previous day. With the 9,783 more Ontarians who tested positive for COVID-19, Ontario is above 900,000 cases.
