COVID-19: Quebec reports 52 new deaths

Fifty-two deaths attributed to COVID-19 were added to Quebec’s death toll on Wednesday, while hospitalizations are still on the rise.

Total hospitalizations are now at 2,877, an increase of 135. Of those patients, 263 are in intensive care, an increase of eight.

The Ministry of Health reports 8,351 new cases, a number which is however not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

The province’s death toll is 766,927 people infected and 12,080 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 38,331 samples were taken on Tuesday, and the positivity rate in the province is 16.6%.
