The future memorial dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II will be built in St James’s Park in London, right next to Buckingham Palace, the British government announced on Saturday, September 7. The site has been chosen “for its historical significance and its personal connection to the late sovereign”the British government said in a statement on the eve of the second anniversary of the death of Elizabeth II.
The memorial, erected near the Marlborough Gate, will thus be close to the Mall, the long avenue that leads to Buckingham Palace and where royal processions pass during major events, but also to the headquarters of the Commonwealth, a diplomatic alliance to which the Queen was very attached. It will also be next to the statues of King George VI and the Queen Mother, the parents of Elizabeth II, the government details.
