Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois nevertheless wishes that the management of the pandemic is not “the only issue” of the upcoming by-election, the date of which is still unknown.
Environment and housing crisis
Solidarity candidate Shophika Vaithyanathasarma expects the environment and the housing crisis, which “hits hard” in Marie-Victorin, to be part of the debates.
22 years old, Mme Vaithyanathasarma will notably have to face the ex-political commentator and former federal deputy Pierre Nantel, who will be a candidate for the Parti Québécois.
“I recognize the notoriety of Mr. Pierre Nantel, but I think I also have a different outlook on today’s politics. I have ideas to highlight, I have a desire to bring together, to love, to be benevolent and that, I think the citizens of Marie-Victorin will feel it, ”said Mme Vaithyanathasarma.
Liberal Émilie Nollet and the leader of the new Climate Quebec party, Martine Ouellet, will also be in the running when François Legault officially calls the election, presumably at the approach of spring.
The riding of Marie-Victorin has been vacant since the election of Catherine Fournier as mayor of Longueuil last November.
