The group of Macronist deputies Together for the Republic does not rule out participating in Michel Barnier’s government, without “blockage” neither “unconditional support”said its president, Gabriel Attal, on Friday, September 6.

“There will be no desire on our part to block, nor unconditional support: only the desire to be useful to our country and faithful to our values will guide us”assured the former Prime Minister in a message to the deputies of his group, consulted by franceinfo. Gabriel Attal spoke with his successor on Friday morning.

“In the discussions around a possible participation, always having as our compass the ‘action pact for the French’ that we presented this summer, we will be open to compromises with other political forces that carry other proposals,” wrote the group’s president to Macronist elected officials. The latter are “available to continue discussions in the coming days”, he adds.

In the absence of a clear majority in the National Assembly, the former head of government is pleading for “a broad gathering, beyond divisions, with the Republican right, the Republican left and the central bloc”and considers that the former right-wing minister Michel Barnier “can build it”. “Nothing can be done without us”he says.
