Given the favourable weather conditions this summer, migrants have made numerous attempts to cross.

Migrants are trying everything to cross the Channel. Packed by the dozens on inflatable canals at the risk of their lives. Behind these shocking images, are there more and more crossings? From a few hundred in 2018, arrivals in Great Britain in small boats have exploded in 2022: more than 45,000. A record that could well be broken this year. 13,000 arrivals in the first half of the year and with the summer, the pace has accelerated.

Migrants are increasingly turning to small boats, as access to trucks or cruise ships crossing the Channel has been barricaded. So are the crossings more dangerous? With the shipwreck today, at least 37 people have lost their lives in the Channel this year. A tragic record that can be explained, according to migrant defense associations, by the pressure of police patrols.
