Paratriathlon | Canadian Leanne Taylor wins bronze in Paris

(Paris) Canadian Leanne Taylor won a bronze medal in triathlon at the Paralympic Games in Paris on Monday.

The 32-year-old from Winnipeg finished third in the women’s paratriathlon, finishing behind Australian Lauren Parker and American Kendall Gretsch.

Taylor was at her first Paralympic Games, in Paris. Five years ago, she was paralyzed from the waist down following a mountain biking accident.

In its category, the event included 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of handcycling and 5 kilometers of wheelchair racing.

Paratriathlon has had the same scheduling problems as triathlon at the Olympics.

The schedule was changed and the races were postponed due to concerns about the water quality of the Seine.
