The company said no buses were available in the area to provide alternative transportation.

VIA Rail said it is also investigating after an employee confiscated a passenger’s phone during this period, and that appropriate action will be taken following a review.

The company added that it sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused to passengers and will provide a full refund to anyone affected.
