At 102, Manette Baillie made her first parachute jump to celebrate her birthday.I’ve been waiting for this for so long“, she confides before boarding the plane. Hanging on to an instructor, her eyes closed, she launches herself into the void at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters, for a few seconds of free fall above England.”I closed my eyes and the journey began, at very high speed.”explains Manette.
The centenarian took part in World War II. Married to a parachutist, she had never jumped herself.
