Lille singer Lucky Love spoke to franceinfo about his emotion after his remarkable performance of his song “Masculinity”, renamed “My Ability”, during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games on Wednesday evening.

“It’s majestic, it’s beyond all hope, I didn’t think at all that it would resonate so much”confided on franceinfo this Thursday at noon, Lucky Love, the French singer who performed, during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, Wednesday August 28, his title Masculinity renamed My Ability for the occasion. “I think it was a wonderful spotlight. This song has already had the chance to travel around the world, I’m surprised by its power.”

The French singer, model and dancer initially hesitated to perform at the ceremony on Wednesday evening, citing a question of “legitimacy”. “The fact that I was born without my left arm bothered me a little for this ceremony because I don’t consider myself at all as a disabled person, since I have known nothing other than an arm”he explains. It was Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the show, who finally convinced him, thanks to his words, but above all thanks to his work. “When I saw the opening ceremony of the Olympics, I realized that, finally, inclusion was everywhere and not just in the para ceremony. So it was obvious for me to want to be part of it”he admits.

Lucky Love sang My Ability, a remixed version of his song Masculinity, with different lyrics. “It’s a personal choice, I wasn’t asked at all”explains the Lillois. “I like the social function of music and pop culture in general, I thought it was important to open up the lyrics of this song to be able to speak to as many people as possible.” This twist on this song “extremely personal” written 3 years ago greatly moved the public and the singer himself: “It was beautiful, I’m very glad I did it.”
