As the Paralympic Games begin, police are investigating the disappearance of a Rwandan athlete, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday, August 28, when contacted by AFP. The Brigade for the Suppression of Crimes Against Persons (BRDP) was called in as part of an investigation into a worrying disappearance, the same source said.

According to information from France Télévisions, this disappearance was reported on Tuesday at midday by the president of the Rwandan Olympic Committee but it dates back to August 20. This volleyball player left the athletes’ camp in Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine) that day around 7 p.m. to go to a restaurant and never returned, France Télévisions learned from a police source.

The Rwandan ambassador was informed of these facts and went to the site, detailed the same source. A report was then made to the Saint-Ouen police station (Seine-Saint-Denis) and the case was then transferred to the BRDP.
