Angelina Jolie to be honored at Toronto Film Festival

(Toronto) Angelina Jolie will receive a special recognition for her humanitarian work at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).


The Oscar-winning actress will receive the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media at the festival’s fundraising gala on September 8.

The award recognizes people who associate social causes with cinema. It has previously been given to Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar and Indian director Mira Nair.

Angelina Jolie’s latest film, Without Bloodwhich she wrote and directed, will have its world premiere at TIFF.

This war drama, adapted from the eponymous novel by Alessandro Baricco, tells the story of a young girl who seeks to avenge the murders of her father and brother.

Salma Hayek and Demián Bichir star in the lead roles.

Additionally, TIFF will present the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award to Toronto filmmaker David Cronenberg, the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award to Cate Blanchett and the Best Actress Award to Amy Adams at the awards ceremony.

The 49e The TIFF edition will take place from September 5 to 15.
