Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who had been estranged since 2009, announced on social media on Tuesday, August 27, the reformation of the legendary Britpop group Oasis. An announcement that comes nearly thirty years after the album “Definitely Maybe”, released on August 29, 1994, which launched the group. And fifteen years after their spectacular separation on August 28, 2009 in the middle of the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. The group has announced a tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the summer of 2025, with around fifteen dates, in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin.

The two brothers had posted the same 11-second clip on social media on Sunday night, with a single message: “27/08/24. 8am,” hinting at an imminent announcement. Fans of the group have been fantasizing about such a reunion for years, but it has rarely seemed as likely as it does today.

Liam Gallagher, 51, dedicated Oasis’ ‘Half The World Away’ to Noel, 57, on Sunday night during his gig at Reading Festival, west London. Liam performed several hits from ‘Definitely Maybe’. At the end of the concert, the social media message ’27/08/24. 8am’ was played on the big screen.

The group’s possible return made headlines in the Sunday Times on Sunday.. “Noel and Liam Gallagher appear to have settled their differences and, if the truce holds, they will play major concerts in London and at Manchester’s Heaton Park in 2025.”the newspaper wrote, citing sources in the music industry. The Sunday Times even reported a rumour that Wembley Stadium would be booked for ten dates.

After years of bickering, yet another altercation in the summer of 2009 between Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel, guitarist and composer of Oasis, at the Parisian Rock en Seine festival, led to the breakup of the group formed in 1991 in Manchester. Since then, the enemy brothers have long exchanged barbs via social networks or the press, before a relative lull in recent times, giving fans hope of a reconciliation.
