“15 regions” have been “hit” by a “massive” Russian attack, kyiv announces

More than half of the country has been targeted. Fifteen regions of Ukraine targeted by Russian attack “massive” against energy infrastructure on Monday, August 26, the Ukrainian government announced. “The enemy used different types of weapons: drones, cruise missiles, Kinjal [missiles hypersoniques]Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said on his Telegram account. At least three people have died in western and southern Ukraine, local officials said.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that it had carried out a “massive strike” against energy sites “with high-precision long-range weapons launched from the air and sea and with drones”. “All targets have been hit”the ministry said.

Explosions also rang out over kyiv on Monday morning. Small clouds of smoke from anti-aircraft defenses were seen in the sky over the capital, as well as a diffuse cloud of black smoke over the eastern part of the city. Ukrainian energy operator DTEK also noted some power outages.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who claims that Russia has fired about 200 missiles and drones, has asked for help from European air forces to destroy these waves of Russian missiles and drones. “In different regions of Ukraine, we could do much more to protect lives if the air force of our European neighbors worked together with our F-16s and with our anti-aircraft defenses.”he said, demanding “solutions”.
