“I am waiting for the President of the Republic to clarify his position, the ball is in his court”asserts the national secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel, on France Bleu Hérault, Monday August 26, while Emmanuel Macron continues his consultations at the Élysée with a view to appointing a Prime Minister.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon proposed, Saturday August 24, to form a left-wing government with Lucie Castets as Prime Minister, but without an Insoumis minister, asking the Macronists and the right if they would censor this composition. For Fabien Roussel, the leader of La France insoumise “demonstrates that we are truly ready to do everything possible to ensure that a left-wing and ecological government is in charge in our country”.
The former deputy from the North says “happy to see that Jean-Luc Mélenchon made a gesture”but believes that “The President of the Republic and all his allies are seeking, by all means, that [le Nouveau Front populaire n’aille] not in government”. “I don’t know what other excuse [Emmanuel Macron] will come out today, tomorrow, not to name us”he emphasizes.
