Cyberbullyed, DJ Barbara Butch “chose not to be afraid to exist in public space” by carrying the Paralympic flame at Rock en Seine

DJ Barbara Butch filed a complaint almost a month ago after being cyber-harassed following her participation in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.

“I chose not to be afraid to exist in public space”declared DJ Barbara Butch on Sunday August 25 on franceinfo, a few hours before carrying the Paralympic flame at the Rock en Seine music festival in Saint-Cloud, despite the cyberbullying she was the victim of on social networks after her performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Barbara Butch filed a complaint after being targeted by “tens of thousands” hate messages. Regarding the ongoing investigation, she welcomed having, with the help of a company, “managed to get hold of hundreds of people’s identities” having cyberbullied her, focusing “on the most violent messages”. “Justice will do its job and then we will tackle the international situation”says the DJ. “I know I have done a lot of good for a lot of people and I will continue to fight for the rights of all and to fight against cyberbullying and harassment.”assures Barbara Butch.

She will carry the flame on Sunday evening, August 25, at 9:30 p.m., with the Franco-Iranian author Marjane Satrapi and two para-athletes whose names are not yet known. “I wear it with pride, dignity and panache, because I know that I represent France in the same way as anyone else, so I will wear it with my head held high.”continues the DJ. Barbara Butch hopes that “making all the invisible visible”.

“It’s very moving for me, I’m a complete fan of these athletes who are Avengers because of their history, their individual and collective journeys”she adds. “It’s going to be a very emotional moment”promises Barbara Butch, recalling that the “The Olympic Games are not over, but let’s move on to the Paralympics which are just as important, if not more so.”.
