Every time the Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs and MP for La Peltrie, Éric Caire, holds a press briefing, I always have the strange impression that he comes straight out of a box of surprises.
This is what happened in his last meeting with the press, during which a journalist asked him where he imagined the third link project between Quebec and Lévis. “Oh my God! Well, the route has been made, there, the corridor from downtown to downtown. We’re talking about… Lallemand Street, I think. No, it’s not Lallemand. On the South Shore, there, I don’t remember. In any case, the recommendation has been made, and I think the idea is to move forward with that.”
Now, we will recall that when the Legault government first announced the construction of an under-river tunnel, Éric Caire put his seat on the line in the event of the project being rejected, going so far as to add that he would fight to the last drop of blood for its completion.
In this vein, it is clear that the Minister’s formal commitments regarding the third link lack “fervour” to say the least, given his ignorance regarding the location and type of construction planned for the third link. Consequently, Mr. Caire, what planet are you living on?
