Germany is in shock after a knife attack that left three people dead and several seriously injured on the evening of Friday, August 23, in Solingen, in the west of the country. The attacker’s motives are currently unknown.
On Friday, August 23, at 10 p.m., ambulances and police cars come and go in the city center of Solingen (Germany), near Düsseldorf. A knife attack has just left three dead and five seriously injured in the city center. A few minutes before, local residents were celebrating the city’s 650th anniversary with one of the country’s most famous DJs. A man stabbed several people in front of the stage where he was playing. The organizer immediately called for calm.
Taking advantage of the crowd movement, the attacker fled. The city is completely sealed off, and the residents are in shock. The forensic police analyzed the crime scene all night, but for the moment, investigators have very few clues to find the attacker. There is little precise information on his appearance and none on his motivations. As long as the suspect is on the run, residents are asked to stay at home. The festival that was to last until Sunday has been canceled.
