Two control room vans intended for the television broadcast of the Ligue 2 match between Lorient and Grenoble were damaged on Saturday morning, August 24, at the Moustoir stadium in Lorient, reports France Bleu Breizh Izel. At 8:30 a.m., “about fifty individuals” broke into the stadium after knocking down some barriers, despite the presence of security agents mobilized by the club, the police said.

One of the control vehicles had paint thrown at its windshield. The contents of the other were unloaded. Crates of equipment and cables were thrown on the ground. Graffiti was also written on both vehicles. “The damage is being assessed, but the television broadcast is not being called into question” for this match of the second day of Ligue 2, scheduled for 2:30 p.m., indicates the police.

An investigation has been opened to identify the participants in this damage. The police have already confirmed that the action is indeed linked to the problem of the television broadcast of Ligue 2 matches.

Since the start of the season, supporters of several clubs have been protesting against the schedule changes for championship matches demanded by the broadcaster, beIN Sports. A meeting between the Professional Football League, the broadcaster and the National Supporters Association will take place next week, announced the resigning Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra on Wednesday 21 August.
