During the evacuation of Kabul airport, which took place after the Taliban stormed, a father handed his infant to a soldier. Five months later, he finally found the trace of his child.
In a survival instinct, a father had lifted his infant, in order to give it to the American soldiers who were in charge of evacuating the Kabul airport, following the assault launched by the Taliban. The photo had moved the whole world, but the father had lost all trace of his child, until Saturday, January 8. For five months, the infant was with the family of a taxi driver who had taken him in. “The baby was on the ground, on the asphalt. He wasn’t even on a carpet or cardboard box. He was there all alone, abandoned. As I am the father of a family, I could not do nothing. I had to take care of it “, at testified Hamed Safi, the driver.
Hamed Safi and his wife cared for the infant for five months, until he was found by his biological grandfather, thanks to a photo posted on social media. “When I saw him on Saturday I was transported to another world, I felt so happy, a blessed day. Our lost baby is finally here “, rejoices Mohammad Gassim, the infant’s grandfather.
