Beauty salon shot dead | Business owned by woman murdered in 2023

The beauty salon that belonged to the wife of a Montreal mafioso, Claudia Iacono, murdered in May 2023 in Montreal, was the target of at least one gunshot Thursday evening.

“At around 7:25 p.m., a citizen contacted 911 saying he heard what sounded like a gunshot at the corner of Jean-Talon West and De la Savane streets, in the Côte-des-Neiges district of Montreal,” explains officer Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department.

When they arrived at the scene, the police found a shell casing on the ground and noted a bullet impact on the building housing the Salon Deauville, hairdressing and spa.

The projectile did not go through the shop window and no one was injured.

In May 2023, the salon’s former owner, Claudia Iacono, 39, was shot and killed while in her vehicle outside her business.

Mme Iacono was the partner of Anthony Gallo, considered by the police to be connected to the Montreal mafia.

According to our information, it is not Mme Iacono who was to be targeted that day and the police believe that the attack could be attributed to the Sicilian clan of the Montreal mafia.

Anthony Gallo’s father, Moreno, a Calabrian, was assassinated in Mexico in 2013, presumably because he lacked loyalty to the Sicilian clan while former Montreal mafia boss Vito Rizzuto was detained in the United States between 2006 and 2012.

According to our information and research, the Salon Deauville coiffure et spa still belongs to the Iacono family.

Let us recall that two men from Ontario, Joël Richard Clarke and Tyranne Andre Greenidge, were arrested by SPVM Major Crimes investigators in connection with the murder of Mme Iacono and are still awaiting trial.

A targeted show every two weeks

This is the 3e time in six weeks that a beauty salon has been the target of a crime in Montreal.

On the night of July 10, an incendiary device was thrown at a beauty salon located on rue Jean-Talon est, near rue De Cannes, in the borough of Saint-Léonard.

Last Monday night, an arson attack was started in another beauty salon located on Jean-Talon Street West, near Victoria Street, very close to Salon Deauville, coiffure et spa.

No one has yet been arrested in connection with these three crimes committed against beauty salons in a month and a half.
