Emmanuel Macron received representatives of the NFP, LR and the presidential camp at the Élysée on Friday August 23, with a view to finding a new Prime Minister.
The representatives of the New Popular Front (NFP) were the first to be received by Emmanuel Macron, Friday, August 23. They reiterated their demand: to appoint Lucie Castets to Matignon. However, other hypotheses are circulating for the post of Prime Minister. Among them, the LR president of Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, the PS mayor of Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), Karim Bouamrane, and the former socialist Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve. The left-wing alliance does not want to hear about it.
A potential NFP government would have little chance of lasting. Gabriel Attal recalled that the presidential camp did not want a minister from La France Insoumise. He preferred a coalition that would go from the left, without LFI, to the Republicans. For its part, the right indicated that it did not want to participate in any government coalition. The National Rally and Éric Ciotti will be received on Monday, August 26. Emmanuel Macron did not give a precise date for the appointment of a Prime Minister.
