“Transcendence”, No Police | Le Devoir

All over the dance floors, the trance sound is back in vogue, carried by a young generation of composers who did not know its peak in the 1990s. This trance resurgence, not at all nostalgic, is well represented in Montreal thanks to the work of composers and DJs Maara, TDJ and, now, No Police (Virginie Belliveau), who will release her first mini-album next Friday. Transcendenceon the German label PARA//E/. Three original songs in addition to the remix of 12AMthe original revealing a stimulating melodic motif emerging on a linear and patient rhythm (the H369 Remix will be more aggressive, in the rhythms as in its touches of acid synths). On Bic Mac DreamzNo Police gives its percussion the aplomb of techno, also accelerating the tempo, while Reflections turns heads with its choppy vocal samples sprinkled over a meatier bassline. No Police is on the bill at Piknic Électronik on September 29.
