Latin music in Tremblant, Poutine Festival in Drummondville and Asian Night Market in Montreal… There’s plenty to enjoy all over Quebec this weekend. Here are our journalists’ suggestions.
Salsa Tremblant
The festival season is getting even longer with the launch of Salsa Tremblant, an event dedicated to Latin dance and music. Described as a “street party” for the whole family, the festival will feature Toronto singer Ricky Franco, whose repertoire includes salsa dura, merengue, cumbia and bachata (Friday and Saturday), and Venezuelan Lu Jayan (Saturday). Dance lessons and performances are also on the program.

Drummondville Poutine Festival
Summer is already over, but there are still some great festivals on the program, including the friendly Festival de la poutine in Drummondville. It’s time to catch up if you missed Karkwa, Fredz or Le Roy, la Rose et le Lou[p] in your area, to discover young people like Loïc Lafrance and Sensei H, or to rush to see Daniel Bélanger, who is still rare at festivals, or the host group, Les Trois Accords, who we never get tired of. Three days of good music, in a relaxed atmosphere, all while enjoying a popcorn chicken poutine (or any other topping of your choice), an hour and fifteen minutes from Montreal. Pierre Hébert’s Well-Cooked
Comedian and host Pierre Hébert will be the star of a very special evening this Saturday at the Grand Théâtre de Québec. Christine Morency, his everyday accomplice on the radio, and a few guests will come to roaster as part of the Grands bien-cuits ComediHa!. We can expect a scathing evening, where gags will fly from all sides. And Pierre Hébert will have the chance to respond, since he will have the last word of the show.
Saturday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m., at the Grand Théâtre de Québec

The Asian Night Market
Asian cuisine is once again in the spotlight this weekend with the Asian Night Market in Chinatown. More than 30 local restaurateurs await visitors foodies in search of Asian specialties. Squid and octopus skewers, Cambodian beef grills, mochi doughnuts, the choice is wide in this market that is inspired by those of Southeast Asia. Installations as well as artistic performances will punctuate the event. The market will be back the following weekend for those who missed it… or who want to relive the experience.
From August 22 to August 25, corner of Saint-Laurent and René-Lévesque, next to the Chinatown arch

Celebration of Canadian, Quebec and Belgian hip-hop
This Friday, as part of POP Montréal, one of Canada’s most talented rappers will be in Montreal. Torontonian Daniel Son, who recently released albums with the excellent Futurewave, Raz Fresco and Giallo Point, will present tracks from his vast repertoire dating back to 2016. He will be preceded by Montrealers Young Rose, whose skills we have already praised, and DJ White Socks, who released the magnificent Aequanimitas. Belgians Cinsî, YOetc, SeTuiTe and DJohndoe will also be at L’Escogriffe. Then, on Sunday, the same quartet and White Socks will set the table again, this time for Waahli and jasS, who will offer a free show at 5 p.m. at the Marché des possibles on Gaspé Avenue, presented by Yo Dubsta.
