After the death of Alain Delon on Sunday August 18, the man who led him for thirty years, Dominique Ferry, looks back on the bond of friendship that united him with the actor.
Dominique Ferry was Alain Delon’s driver in the south of France for thirty years. The two men met in 1989. “Trust was established, we didn’t even need to talk to each other, a look was enough”remembers Alain Delon’s former driver. A friendship was born. In Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), he followed the actor like his shadow, sometimes to the artists’ entrance, when he decided to walk to a press conference.
Alain Delon let him into his intimate life and invited him to his table at lunchtime. The driver carefully kept all the memories of this complicity, including photographs. The actor had also sent him letters, always written in green ink. The two men kissed one last time in 2019, just after Alain Delon’s farewell to the cinema. “For you Dominique, thank you, your friend”he had signed on a photo.
