Curtain call for “Titi”. Thierry Henry has decided to leave his position as coach of the French Espoirs team, “for reasons that are personal to him”, after speaking with Philippe Diallo, as announced by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday, August 19. Having arrived last summer, he was still under contract for the coming season, until June 2025.

At the end of a fine run, his Bleuets lost in the Olympic final against Spain at the Parc des Princes (5-3 aet) on August 9. “I would like to thank the FFF and President Philippe Diallo, who offered me this incredible opportunityspecifies the 1998 world champion, aged 47. Winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games for my country will remain one of the greatest prides of my life.”

We obviously regret this decision, because Thierry Henry was able to achieve the objectives that had been set for him by winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, forty years after the Olympic medal in Los Angeles,” writes Philippe Diallo.

“Having followed him throughout this campaign, I was able to discover his great professionalism, his rigor and his love of the blue jersey. We wish him good luck for the rest of his career,” adds the president of the 3F. He will launch “in the next few days” the process of designating his successor, the statement said. A new coach will have to be present for the two Euro 2025 qualifying matches in September against Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
