In La Rochelle, free sunscreen dispensers

At the entrance to the beaches of La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), it is part of the landscape. Since August 1, terminals have been distributing free sunscreen to passers-by and vacationers. In the seventh sunniest city in France, the initiative is welcomed. “It’s open access, there’s no cost barrier”comments a woman.

Three terminals installed in the city deliver high protection sun cream, with factor 50. The experiment is launched by the municipality in partnership with the League against cancer. The objective is to introduce the right actions to protect oneself from the sun, from a very young age. “It’s very important because children have a solar capital (…) that can be squandered very easily if we go out in the sun without cream”explains Jean-Marie Piot, president of the Charente-Maritime League against Cancer.
