Some natural filming locations have become tourist destinations in their own right. This is the case of the Swiss summit of the Schilthorn, with its cable car and its spectacular panoramic restaurant, Piz Gloria.

At the top of the Schilthorn (Switzerland), you have to overcome your fear of heights to enjoy one of the most beautiful views in the world: Piz Gloria, a panoramic restaurant located at an altitude of almost 3,000 metres. This is where James Bond, played by George Lazenby, saved humanity in 1969. To get there, you have to take three cable cars. After a 40-minute climb, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the most beautiful peaks in the Swiss Alps.

Tourists come to enjoy the view and get a behind-the-scenes look at their favourite film. This is where the filming of James Bond On Her Majesty’s Secret Service took place. The perfect setting convinced the director to finance the construction of a unique building in the heart of the Swiss Alps. More than 50 years later, the site has become a place of pilgrimage for James Bond fans. A museum also retraces the history of the filming. On the first floor, the revolving restaurant offers a 360-degree view of the mountain.
