French international midfielder Youssouf Fofana will leave AS Monaco and join the Italian club AC Milan, Radio France’s sports management learned on Friday, August 16, from a source close to the case, confirming information from the newspaper L’Équipe.
The midfielder trained in Strasbourg will sign his contract once he has completed his medical examination scheduled for Saturday. Youssouf Fofana, a Monaco player since 2020, still had one year of contract with the princely club. In the transaction, Monaco will recover 23 million euros, plus two million euros in easily achievable bonuses.
The departing player will have played 173 matches with AS Monaco. Having become over time an important player in Didier Deschamps’ group in the French team, Youssouf Fofana has played 21 matches with the Blues.
