According to the Association of Families of France, the 2024 school year should be less expensive than the previous one, with an average cost lower by 2.87 euros.
Every year, “back to school” rhymes with “replace”. Worn-out sneakers, jogging pants that are too small: shoes and clothes weigh heavily on the back-to-school budget. In addition to the classic school supplies, a middle school girl needs a new pair of sneakers, but with a budget to respect. “Usually, we are around 100 euros for the purchase of sports equipment”the mother explains.
Every year, sports equipment represents a third of the back-to-school budget, or 66.20 euros on average, for a sixth-grade student. To save money, some parents turn to second-hand clothing. Others anticipate and buy second-hand. The manager of a second-hand store is already reorganizing his departments for the start of the school year.
