Like every evening, the 11pm news report takes a look at the news broadcast by European television channels. It’s the Eurozapping of Thursday, August 15.

In Russia, a Russian-American dancer was convicted of high treason. She was arrested in February while visiting her family. Ksenia was imprisoned for donating about fifty euros to an American charity helping Ukraine. “The Russian Criminal Code imposes a twelve-year sentence on you in a correctional colony.”the judge said. The only hope of finding her husband in Los Angeles (United States) is a prisoner exchange. Westerners suspect the Kremlin of multiplying convictions to fuel exchanges like this one.

In Germany, an arrest warrant has been issued for a Ukrainian for sabotaging Nord Stream. The man lived in a house in Poland, but has recently fled. He is a Ukrainian, part of a team of six people. On board a sailboat, in September 2022, they allegedly sabotaged Nord Stream, a gas pipeline that was to deliver Russian gas to Germany. The German authorities are trying to determine whether this was an isolated operation, or whether it could have been ordered by the Ukrainian government.
