“Another Day” Album Review, Fucked Up

Another Day is a concentrate of hardcore power: what could be better than starting your day with the new album from Toronto’s Fucked Up? Nothing like being surprised and enveloped early in the morning by the voice of Damian Abraham, who delivers a performance that is raw, certainly, but no less emotionally intense, while Jonah Falco’s drums, Sandy Miranda’s bass and the riffs Mike Haliechuk and Josh Zucker’s guitar work ratchets up the tension.

Titles like the epic piece that gives its name to the album and the very retro, even nostalgic ones (we can really feel the 2000s here) Stimming And Tell Yourself You Will are particularly notable for their complexity within the whole. In fact, Fucked Up manages to innovate with new sounds and to evolve with the times while exploring the past and dwelling on reflections concerning the — far from glorious — state of the world. Another Day is simple and effective!
