A contract “historical”Poland signed an agreement with the American company Boeing for the purchase of 96 Apache combat helicopters on Tuesday, August 13. The aim is to strengthen the Polish army, which is undergoing a major modernisation process, accelerated by the war in Ukraine.
The value of this purchase “of 96 ultra-modern attack and combat helicopters, the AH-64E Apache” amounts to “10 billion dollars”or 9.14 billion euros, said Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz at an official ceremony. “These $10 billion are insurance for our country, insurance for our freedom.”said Pawel Bejda, Deputy Minister of Defense. The sale will make Poland the world’s largest user of these aircraft after the United States. The Apaches will be used to replace Soviet-designed Mi-24 helicopters. In addition to the supply of helicopters, the agreement includes a logistics component, which provides for the provision of maintenance equipment, technical and training support, ammunition and spare parts.
