At home, the Dutch women did not leave a crumb. A few hours after the second victory of Charlotte Kool, who had beaten two of her compatriots in the sprint, it was once again a Dutchwoman, Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime), who won the third stage of the women’s Tour de France, Tuesday August 13 in Rotterdam. She took the leader’s jersey in the general classification, Charlotte Kool conceding 25 seconds while she only had a twenty second lead at the start of the time trial.

The reigning winner of the Grande Boucle beat the world champion of the exercise, Chloe Dygert (Canyon-Sram), and Loes Adegeest (FDJ-Suez). The first Frenchwoman, Cédrine Kerbaol, finished in 4th place, five seconds behind Vollering. This short 6.3 km time trial widened the first gaps between the favourites: the Frenchwoman Juliette Labous (dsm-Firmenich-PostNL) performed well, only losing 15 seconds, while her compatriot Evita Muzic (FDJ-Suez) lost 40 seconds. Katarzyna Niewiadoma, third last year, is 30 seconds behind.
