The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced on Monday August 12 that “Hundreds of actions were obstructed” by police officers responsible for preventing acts of violence and/or terrorism, before and during the Paris Olympic Games. “No drama happened”greeted the Head of State during a reception in the gardens of the Elysée Palace to thank the professionals mobilized during the Olympic Games.
Emmanuel Macron explained that “nearly 5,600 potentially dangerous people” have been ruled out thanks to more than a million administrative investigations conducted by the National Service for Administrative Security Investigations (SNEAS). In July, the Minister of the Interior had already declared that 4,355 people likely to pose a threat for the Olympic Games had been ruled out. The President of the Republic also welcomed “a success in terms of security and organization”, while 35,000 French police and gendarmes, as well as 18,000 soldiers, were mobilized during these Olympic Games.
