Dozens dead after Israeli strike on school

Dozens of dead bodies were found at dawn on Saturday, August 10, in a Koranic school in Gaza City. The adjacent mosque was also hit. According to Hamas, some people were praying at the time of these airstrikes, others were sleeping in the floors of the school that were used as shelters for displaced Palestinians. In the morning, a child discovered the terrible scene. On the spot, an old man is frozen with fear, unable to move and women are crying for the dead.

This strike is one of the deadliest since the start of the war in Gaza. “They hit without caring whether there are children, women, young people or old people”laments one resident.
According to Israel, about 20 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants, including commanders, were operating from the struck compound. The Jewish state claims that the school was used to carry out terrorist attacks. The strikes come as Israel says it is ready to resume negotiations for a ceasefire.
