Far from the duel for gold between Botswana and the United States on Saturday, France finished in ninth place.
A fall and some regrets. Qualified in first position in their series, the French failed to take last place in the final of the men’s 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympic Games, Saturday August 10 at the Stade de France. The last French relay runner, Fabrisio Saïdy, fell after a jostle, when moving into fourth position in the last bend. The United States won by a tenth ahead of Botswana, setting a new Olympic record (2’54″43). Great Britain completed the podium.
After a good passage from Téo Andant (44″13), which brought France back into contact with the top 5, Fabrisio Saïdy fell back too quickly in front of the South African Antonie Matthys Nortje, who jostled him in return. Having fallen, the Frenchman let slip any chance of a podium.
