In Brazil, near São Paulo, 61 people were killed in the crash of a passenger plane on Friday, August 9. The plane crashed into a residential area and no passengers survived.

Like a spinning top, a passenger plane in free fall in the Brazilian sky. It crashed in the middle of homes, near São Paulo, on Friday, August 9. After the fire, only a few pieces of the carcass remained. No passengers or crew members survived. 61 people, including at least one 3-year-old child, died. Nearby, in a residential area, residents were spared but are traumatized by the scene. “I saw the plane suddenly fall (…) and I saw it crash into the roof of a house”says a witness. “Horrible, he kept falling.”says a resident of Vinhedo.

The black box has been found and will be analyzed by investigators. Shortly before the crash, the plane is said to have suddenly stopped responding to the control tower and then disappeared from radar. It had not reported any difficulties. “The plane did not communicate with the control teams to inform them of an emergency situation”explained the head of the Brazilian Air Force’s investigation center. The aircraft was built in France by ATR, a Franco-Italian subsidiary of Airbus.
